Darrell James Hanvy

Darrell James "D.J." Hanvy, 57, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024.

He was born February 18, 1966, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Doyle E. and Josephine A. (Ditch) Hanvy, Sr.. He was a graduate of Seaman High School.

D.J. was employed as an independent contractor for various construction companies.

Survivors include three children, Jessica (Chris) Brockett of Trinity, FL, Elizbeth (Tanner) Kuhn of Topeka and Dalton Hanvy of Topeka; six grandchildren, Chailen, Braedyn, Emmitt, Hadley, Lincoln and Oliver; and two sisters, Doyse Manz of Frankfort and Melissa Wilson of Topeka; and his brother, Doyle (Lori) Hanvy, Jr. of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Laurie Newport.

D.J. enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to the casino, and fishing. He always wanted to try different types of foods. He enjoyed traveling and learning about new places.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A celebration of life gathering and reception will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Parker Price Reception Center, 1940 NW Central Ave., Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to the DJ Hanvy fund at Envista Credit Union.
