Darlene E. Selby

Darlene E. Selby, 98, of Topeka passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023.   She was born August 8, 1924 at the family farm in Harveyville, Kansas the daughter of Howard and Lucy Dewitt Wetzel.   She was raised in Harveyville and graduated from high school there in 1943.   She began her teaching career almost immediately after graduating.   She taught in one room school houses at Admire, Harveyville and Sharon.   In 1956 she moved to Topeka where she lived the rest of her life.   Darlene was a member of Central Church of Christ.

She was married to Lyman Selby on May 8, 1949 at Central Church of Christ.    Lyman preceded her in death in 2015.

Survivors include her son, Larry Selby (Lauri) of Topeka; grandchildren, Arin Zirkle, Megan Eisenbarth, Kristin Cox (Logan), Luke Selby, Aaron Selby and Rachel Selby; great grandkids, Mary Zirkle, Mason Zirkle, Westyn Zirkle, Emery Eisenbarth, Coltyn Eisenbarth, Brooklynn Eisenbarth, Dominic Eisenbarth, Elliot Cox and Claira Cox; sister Joyce Scaggs in Gentry, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Lucy Selby in Oklahoma City, OK

Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Selby in 2020, seven brothers and sisters and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Central Church of Christ, 1250 SW College Avenue, Topeka. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 pm on Thursday at the Harveyville Cemetery.    Prior to the funeral service, the family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 pm.     Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ.     www.davidsonfuneral.com
