Mary "Darlene" Mobley, 88, Topeka, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019.
She was born April 19, 1931, in Cunningham, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph G. Mounts and Lucille (Kasterke) Helm. She graduated from Turon High School. Mrs. Mobley was a homemaker.
Darlene married Scott E. Mobley on June 10, 1953 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 28, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two siblings: Wanda Hoeferkamp and Kenneth Spain.
Darlene is survived by four children: Cheryl (Bill) Tallent; Alecia (Don) Webb; Monica (Bryan) Johnson; and Curt (Vicky) Mobley; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Darlene enjoyed refurbishing antique furniture, counted cross-stitch, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed board games, cards and watching her "stories" on television. Darlene will always be remembered for her sense of humor and for the love and support she gave to her husband and family. She loved her role of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She felt it important not to spoil children, but to teach them to have good character, including respect, honesty and hard work at whatever you do.
Funeral services will be 11am, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Darlene will lie in state at 9am on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8pm.
