Darlene L. Gravenstein

Darlene L. Gravenstein, 91, of Topeka passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.   She was born July 17, 1929 at Leonardville, Kansas the daughter of Rudolph and Leda A. Harvey Lindstrom.  She was the fourth of six children.   She was raised at Riley, Kansas.  On May 21 ^st , 1950 she was married to Jim Gravenstein at Riley.   Jim served in the military and after his time in the service, they settled in Topeka.   She was a stay-at-home mom while her kids were growing up and then began her career with Capper Insurance and retired there as a supervisor.   She was a member of Post 400 of the American Legion Auxiliary for 77 years.  Darlene was a member of Grace Baptist Church.  Darlene and Jim enjoyed camping and fishing and were members of Lucky Seven’s Camping Club.  She also enjoyed bowling in her league at Gage Bowl North.

Survivors include her husband Jim Gravenstein of Topeka; children, Steven Gravenstein and wife Carol of Topeka, Cheryl Brummett of Norwood, Ohio, Lee Gravenstein of Topeka, Alan Gravenstein and wife Donna of Ozawkie, KS and Ted Gravenstein of Topeka; brother, Richard Lindstrom of Fresno, California; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin Lindstrom and Franklin Lindstrom; and two sisters, Letha Lovell and Wanda Llewlyn.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Avenue.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Grace Baptist in the Oakland area of Topeka, 1110 N.E.
