Darius Myers
Darius W. "D.W."/"Dee" Myers, 90 , Topeka, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at a Topeka hospice house. He was born May 31, 1913, in Topeka , the son of Charles Keeper and Mary Ann Wilson Myers. He was a life-long resident of Topeka. He graduated from Seaman High School. Mr. Myers served in the Navy during World War II as a Seabee. He was a machinists mate while serving in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and he received a citation for his work as a traffic manager while in Hawaii. He was a traffic manager and general manager at Beatrice Foods for more than 20 years. He owned and managed Fleet Service and Equipment Inc. in North Topeka from 1961 to 1987, when he retired. Mr. Myers was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was the founder of the Seaman High School Bank. He married Anita Beseau in Topeka. She died July 6, 1999. He married Twila "Yvonne" Phillips on Dec. 28, 1977, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Carolyn A. Roberts, Melissa Y. Myers and Tasha N. Myers, all of Topeka; two sons, Charles F. Myers, Mayetta, and Christopher D. Myers, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Mary Ann Drotning, Abilene, and Marjory Casement, Overland Park; a brother, Donald K. Myers, St Louis; eight grandchildren: and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Chapel. Burial with military graveside services conducted by a Fort Riley Funeral Detail will be in Rochester Cemetery. Mr. Myers will lie in state after 3 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 S.W.
