OBITUARY: Daniel Stover Dister, Sr.
Daniel Stover Dister, Sr., 75, Topeka, died Sat., July 28, 2012, at Clare Bridge. He was born on the family farm NW of Topeka, the son of Arthur L. and A. Ruth (Stover) Dister. Dan graduated from Seaman High School in 1955, and attended Kansas Wesleyan and Washburn. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne (1955-1958). He had managed Waid's Restaurant in Topeka and Olathe; owned and operated Little Pigs of America and Southern Chef both at SW 6th & Clay; and was a manager for Holiday Inn's from 1969 to 2004. Dan was a member of the United Methodist Church; Topeka Lodge # 17, AF & AM; Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies; and Arab Shrine. Dan was married to Sharon L. Saile on Feb. 26, 1961, in Topeka. Surviving are his wife: Sharon; sons: Daniel S. Dister, Jr. (Lisa) and Douglas S. Dister (Darla) all of Topeka; and grandchildren: Cole Dister, Cara Dister, and Zuri Bartlett all of Topeka. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military graveside honors at Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, at 9:00 AM, Wed., Aug. 1, 2012. Dan will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
