OBITUARY: Daniel Alan McMillin
Daniel Alan McMillin, 63, died Sun., May 20, 2012. Dan was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Lawrence, the son of Eugene S. and M. June (Gaines) McMillin. Dan had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received a mortuary science degree from KCCC in Dec., 1983. He had worked as a funeral director until 1997, when he retired due to health. He was a member of Seaman Congregational Church; Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM; York Rite Bodies; and Arab Shrine. Dan was married to Carol J. Schiefelbusch on Aug. 22, 1981, in Lawrence. Surviving are his wife: Carol; two sons: Christopher McMillin and Patrick McMillin (Jessica) all of Topeka; a daughter: Heather Turner (Lee) of Indianapolis, IN; and two grandchildren: Joshua McMillin and Katie Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol McMillin Hacker. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Thurs., May 24, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, followed by Masonic Services conducted by Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Wed., at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospitals Travel Fund, c/o Arab Shrine, 1305 South Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66612-1332.
