Dalton K. Thomas

February 23, 1993 — December 13, 2024

Mayetta, Kansas

Our son, brother, cousin, and friend;

Dalton Kirby Thomas was tragically killed and passed away at the age of 31 in Topeka Kansas on Friday December 13, 2024. He was born in Topeka Kansas on February 23, 1993, the sweetest gift to Stacy Ann Kirby and Ray Julius Thomas III.

Dalton attended Quincy Elementary Grade School in North Topeka later moving to Hoyt and attending Royal Valley Middle School and High School. He returned to North Topeka to live until his passing.

He was a sweet baby growing into sweet boy that was a strong-willed fearless ball of energy.

He loved his big brother Ray and tested his patience often by following him at every turn.  Later, as luck would have it, Dalton got his turn to be an older brother to Elizabeth (Liz) whom he lovingly referred to as sister and monitored everyone who came close to her the way big brothers do, and she in kind, looked up to Dalton.  Next, Dalton gained a stepbrother Jarrett who shared his love of sports. Lastly but not least he happily welcomed two twin brothers James and Vincent Lambert Thomas. Throughout his life he was raised with his cousins around being more like siblings.  You would often find them getting into some sort of mischief. They would play video games into the night, ride bikes, go swimming, blow stuff up with fireworks and sneak off. You could always find him looking to pick up a game of basketball or football with his brother, cousins, and childhood buddies.  He loved making people smile with his crazy sense of humor. You always could catch him playing jokes and teasing the other kids or making everyone laugh at something silly.  As a teenager he was cute and fearless you could still catch him and the whole bunch squeezing into a car no seatbelts, music blaring off to commit some type of antics and raise heck.  He was one of the fastest runners around and could run circles around many kids much older than him. He participated and excelled in many sports including gymnastics, karate, powerlifting, basketball, track, wrestling, and football.  A friend said he was the best running back to ever hit Royal Valley.  Dalton still holds a record for the bench-press at Royal Valley High School.

Dalton always hugged his mom and said how much he loved her, and she never doubted Dalton’s love. He never asked for much and was a grateful and good and kind soul. He loved his dogs, loved babies, little kids, his family and friends. He did not have a mean bone in his body and treated everyone with kindness.

Although he struggled later in life his mother Stacy was his biggest champion. He was looked past by many in this world but not Jesus his family or friends. We loved him dearly for who he was, and we are better for knowing him. He is gone from this world but not forgotten we will remember you Dalton in every sunrise every sunset and in every silent moment.

Surviving are his father Ray Julius Thomas III (Topeka), Mother Stacy Kirby Roy, Step- Father Joseph Roy (Mayetta), Brothers Ray Julius Thomas IV (Topeka), Step-Brother Jarrett Roy (Mayetta), Vincent Gary Lambert Thomas (Topeka), Sister Elizabeth Grace Ann Kirby (Mayetta), Grandparents, George Woodrow Kirby Jr, Monica Kirby and Donald Schiffbauer, Mary Jane Sembrat (Topeka); Nephew, Rayden Thomas; Niece, Ella Cramer; Cousins, Kayla Thomas, Kassidy Kirby, Destiny Kirby, Brianna Johnson, Angelo Hawley-Day, Amelia Hawley-Morris, Cheyenne Thomas, Tyler Thomas; Aunts, Uncles and extended family and friends.

I'll see you again, my little “me”.
