Dale W. "Big D" Adams, 62, of Osage City, KS, formerly of Phoenix, AZ, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014.
He was born August 6, 1951 in Ottawa, KS the son of Allison Darrow and Barbara Jean (Hazen) Adams. He was a 1969 graduate of Seaman High School.
Mr. Adams was employed by Day & Zimmerman at Wolf Creek Power Plant.
He was a member and twice Past-Master of the Burlington Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M. and Arab Shrine of Topeka, Raw Hiders Unit and former member of the Scottish Rite. He was also the drummer for Cliff Downing and the Bad News Band, Lawrence, KS.
Dale married Edie Nicolay on January 20, 1973 in Topeka. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, Curt "Danny" (Haly) Adams, Topeka, Chad Dale (Christine) Adams, Phoenix, AZ and Sonia (Richard) Tolbert, Topeka; 8 grandchildren, Scott Warner, Austin Hogan, Lakin Brunkow, Tabby Grimm, Joshua Dale Adams, Allison Adams, Ethan Tolbert and Preston Tolbert; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexis Harrington, Ayden Brunkow, Riley Warner and Keighan McDaniel-Ortiz; his mother, Barbara Adams, Topeka; two brothers, Michael (Elizabeth) Adams, Paxico, KS and Kelly (Missy) Adams, Topeka.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Dale will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests the purchase of a new toy to be donated to a child in need at Christmas or to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604.
