Dale K. Herrick

Dale K. Herrick, 86, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015.
He was born February 19, 1929 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Frank J. and Zlenna (Love) Herrick. He was a 1947 graduate of Eskridge High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for five years. He graduated from Washburn University receiving a Bachelor's of Science Degree.
Dale was employed by the Topeka Medical Center and later for Colmery O'Neil V.A. Medical Center, after retiring in 1992 he worked for Holton Community Hospital and retired after 10 years of service.
He was a life-long member of the NRA and a member of SCCA Car Club.
Dale married Dolores J. Schreiner on July 5, 1952 in Van Nuys, CA. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Randy (Amy Rose) Herrick, St. Croix, USVI; three daughters, Nikki O'Neal, Denver, CO, Brenda Herrick, Denver, CO and Kim Mohling, West Plains, MO; 10 grandchildren, Cameron Herrick, Trevor Herrick, Stetson Herrick, Monaco Herrick, Alexi Herrick, Savannah Kate Herrick, Leah Brown, Zane Mohling, Izaak Mohling and Max Mohling; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Herrick, William Herrick, Anthony Herrick, Caydon Herrick and Corryn Herrick; and a brother, Gary (Linda) Herrick, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Berneil Colglazier, Ione Hubert, Lee Herrick, Ila Herrick, Lester Herrick, Ira Herrick, Harold Herrick and Robert Herrick.
He was an avid hunter, sports car enthusiast and coin collector. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and visiting casinos.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment with military honors will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Dale will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.
