Dale Mack Bement, 65, Topeka, KS., died Sunday evening, Oct. 31, 2004 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a first-rate brother, a devoted friend, a loving husband, a dedicated father, adoring grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by many. Dale was born March 9, 1939 at Gentry, AR., to Keith Thomas and Laurah Williams Bement.
Following his 1958 graduation from Gentry High School, he married his high school sweetheart Mary Sue Philpott on August 22, 1958. He served in the US Navy 4 years. He worked for Duckwalls and retired from the US Postal System (Western Area Supply Center) in October of 1992.
He was a member of many Masonic Fraternities. He was Past Master of Golden Rule Lodge #90, Chaplain of Mayetta Lodge #393, Past Deputy Grand Master Dist. #2, Past Monarch of Media Grotto, Past President of Central State Grotto, 33° of Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies, KYCH of Topeka York Rite Bodies. Red Cross of Constantine. Past President of Square and Compass, Arab Shrine Temple, Past Worthy Patron of Helena #210 Order of the Eastern Star, Past WOS Trinity Shrine #7 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Topeka Council #1 Ancient Toltec Rite.
He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother and infant brother Marvin Maurice Bement.
He is survived by his Wife Mary Sue, two daughters Tammie Dale Reed and husband Ken of Admire, KS Patti Sue Muller and husband Bill, Carbondale, KS. One sister Margaret Louise Fritsche and Husband Russell of Austin, TX. Four grand-daughters Casey Anderson, Krystal Fawl and husband Russell, Amy Reed, Mary Ann Root and husband Mitchell, six grandsons, Thomas and Spencer Reed, Terrence Thompson, Chris, Mark and Kenny Muller. Two great grand-daughters Mikaela, Elizabeth, one great grand-son Mitchell. Two nephews Russell, Richard, one great niece Tera and one great nephew Billy, of Austin, TX.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at the Scottish Rite Temple at S.W 30th and MacVicar. The memorial service will be followed by Masonic services and Scottish Rite Rose Croix Services
Committal services will be private.
