Curt Alan Cochran, 64, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016.
He was born March 20, 1952 in Topeka, the son of Clayton Curtis and Norma Jean (Brooks) Cochran. He was a graduate of Seaman High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science at Kansas State University and a Master's Degree in Administration at Washburn University.
Curt served as an educator, administrator, and coach in the USD 345 School District. He later was part owner and operator of the Three Men With A Truck & Trailer Company.
Curt married Susan McCarter on May 23, 1975 in Topeka. They later divorced yet continued to support their families together. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Kyle (Kendra) Cochran, Topeka and Stephanie (Derek) Ferrell, Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, Bryce, Brayden, and Brinley Cochran; his father, Clayton Cochran, Topeka; his sister, Karen (Stan) Clark, Topeka; his nephew, Josh Clark, Topeka; and great-niece, Chloe Clark, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Cochran, and a brother, Ken Cochran.
Curt loved his family, friends, and life in general. He was an active mentor, supporter, and coach of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid K-State Fan.
Honoring his request, Curt was cremated. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. A memorial ceremony will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 4525 NW Button Rd, Topeka, KS 66618. Inurnment follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka.
