Covert "C. C." "Red" Cranwell, 91, of Lecompton, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014.
He was born September 2, 1923 in rural Lyndon, KS, the son of Frank and Maude (Smith) Cranwell. He was a 1941 graduate of Lyndon High School.
He was a Civil Engineer for the State of Kansas, retiring in 1986.
He was a life-time member of the Lecompton Historical Society.
Covert married Bessie Mae Redd. She preceded him in death on November 26, 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Allen, Lecompton; a grandson, Eric (Monica) Allen, Meriden and a granddaughter, Michelle (Matthew) Jorgensen, Germany; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Emma Allen; his sister, Helen Gray, Lyons, KS;
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carroll and Don Cranwell.
A graveside service for Covert and Bessie's ashes will be 2 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the East View Cemetery, Big Springs, KS. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in assisting the family.
