OBITUARY: Corretta Hensley Allen
Corretta Belle (Hensley) Allen, 63, of Topeka, KS, died Thurs., July 7, 2005 at a Topeka hospital. She was born Aug. 8, 1941 at Big Island, VA, the daughter of Norvell D. and Mary (Patterson) Hensley.
Corretta was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
Corretta married Butch Allen on Oct. 13, 1994 at Lawrence, KS. She was previously married to Clarence E. Taylor on Feb. 21, 1960, he survives of Topeka.
Surviving are her husband, Butch of Topeka; a daughter: Jacqueline C. Yingling of Topeka; 2 sons: David A. Taylor of Topeka and John P. Taylor of Lee's Summit, MO; a brother: William L. Hensley of Lynchburg, VA; 5 step-children: Sheri Kendall of Topeka, Amie Landis of Topeka, Jennifer Handy of Topeka, Courtney Dechant of Manhattan, Terry Allen of Topeka; 19 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.
Corretta loved spending time outdoors gardening and she always looked forward to vacationing at the beach with family and friends. She was a frequent bargainer at area garage sales as well as a small E-bay entrepreneur.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka, KS.
