Cora A. Thomas, 82, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at home.
She was born June 28, 1930 in Koshkonong, MO, the daughter of George W. and Ruby (Hackworth) Harrell.
Mrs. Thomas was employed by Eventide Nursing Home in Topeka for 43 years before retiring in 2009.
She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Topeka for 30 years.
Cora married John D. Thomas on April 26, 1946 in Salem, AR. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1981. Survivors include three children, Linda Sue Thomas, Vickie Thomas and Debra Greeno, all of Topeka; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virgie Novosak, St. Louis, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Bobbie Jamerson and Delphia Thomas; a son, Ronald Thomas; two grandsons, James Dean Lambert and Vincent Gary Lambert; a great-granddaughter, Summer Lee Lathrom; a brother and two sisters.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Cremation will follow the ceremony. Private family inurnment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Cora will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Harden Hospice, 2121 SW Chelsea Dr #107, Topeka, KS, 66614.
