Claude Clinton Maxwell, passed away peacefully at home April 18, 2010 at the age of 85.
He was born July 28, 1924 to Claude and Della Maxwell in Aurora, Missouri. He graduated from Aurora High School and SMS College in Springfield, MO and was a Charter Member of Sigma Pi Fraternity while in college. He later attended Emporia State University. He was employed by the US Government as Auditor at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and served in the US Navy as Signalman First Class from April 20, 1943 to February 24, 1946. Later he taught industrial arts at Paxico High School and Alma High School and a self-employed contractor. Known as CC to his friends, he was a member of the Moose Lodge, a life member of the Disabled Vets and a life member of the American Legion Post 400.
He is survived by his wife Lorene Matney Kampschroeder, married October 30, 1969; son Edwin Draper Maxwell of Fenton, MO; a stepdaughter, Sandra Kampschroeder, Topeka; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. Visitation will precede services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Claude will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services.
