Clarence L. Scarboro, 81, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008.
He was born August 8, 1927 in Conway Springs, Kansas, the son of Milton W. and Lillie Ann (Gooden) Riley. He was a 1945 graduate of TopekaHigh School and attended the University of Kansas. He served in the United States Navy as a seaman First Class during WW II.
Mr. Scarboro was employed by Meyer Yearbook Company and later retired from the State of Kansas. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 A.F.& A.M., Scottish Rite, member and Past-Patron of Helena Chapter No. 210 of the O.E.S., member and Past-Grand Commander of Ancient Toltec Rite Council No. 1. and Lowman United MethodistChurch. He was a life-member of the Topeka Club Printing House Craftsman.
Clarence married Rowena O. Basel on September 19, 1954 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Lyle LeRoi Scarboro and Martin David Scarboro, both of Topeka.
Funeral services will be a 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Masonic services will be conducted by Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 A.F.& A.M. Mr. Scarboro will lie in state after 3 p.m., today at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Interment with military honors will be at Mt.HopeCemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to LowmanUnitedChurch or the Kansas Masonic Foundation for Cancer.
