Clara M. Hartzell, 100, Topeka, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at a Topeka nursing home. She was born Jan. 13, 1903, in Topeka, the daughter of Clarence E. and Lizzie Sickenger Simpson. She was a lifelong Topeka resident. Mrs. Hartzell was a member of Seaman Congregational Church of Christ and participated in activities at Papans Landing Senior Center. She married Frank J. Hartzell in Topeka. He died in 1970. Survivors include nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Rochester Cemetery. Mrs. Hartzell will lie in state from 3 to 8:30 p.m. today at Parker-Price Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 N.W. Rochester Road, Topeka, 66617; or to Heart of America Hospice, 3715 S.W. 29th St., Topeka, 66614.
