Clair Jr. "Butch" Millard, II, 59, of Carbondale, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2006 near Lake Melvern. He was born on May 24, 1947 in Topeka, the son of Clair Jr."Dutch" and Iona Morris Millard. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School. Butch resided in the Carbondale community for the past 30 years, where he and his wife, Cris, operated Mineral Springs Lure Co. Prior to owning the lure company, he made his living as a brick-layer/mason. He was a member of the Topeka Church of the Brethren and Sons of the American Legion. Butch married Cristine L. Miller on March 17, 1973 in Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Clair Jr. "Bud" Millard, III and wife, Jamie of Carlton, two daughters, Jennie Hiatt and husband, Eric of rural Abilene, Amanda Millard of Carbondale, five grandchildren, Caitlin, Clair Jr. "CJ" IV, Madison, Cole and Allie, his parents, Dutch and Iona Millard of Tecumseh, two sisters, Jean Doty of Tecumseh, Peg Stillie of Topeka and one brother, John Millard of Topeka. Butch was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Wesley Earl Millard in August of 1969. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Topeka Church of the Brethren, 3205 N.W. Rochester Rd. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery. Butch will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel.
