OBITUARY: Clair J. "Dutch" Millard
Clair J. "Dutch" Millard, 87, Tecumseh, died Sat., Oct. 11, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Nebraska, the son of Clair H. and Blanche (Ashton) Millard. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Dutch was a truck driver for Armco Steel for 30 years before retiring. After retiring he had Millard's Custom Fishing Rod and Tackle Shop in his home. He was a life member of Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion and Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W. He was a member of the Fifth Armored Division Association, WW II. He attended Victory Tabernacle Church. Dutch was married to Iona N. Morris on Aug. 1, 1942, at Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by a son: Clair J. "Butch" Millard, II; a grandson: Danny Millard; and 3 brothers. Surviving are his wife of 66 years: Iona Millard of the home; a son: John W. Millard (Sharon) of Topeka; 2 daughters: Jean Doty (Larry) of Tecumseh and Peggy Stillie (Ed) of Topeka; a daughter-in-law: Cris Millard of Carbondale; 2 brothers: Robert D. Millard and Chester Thompson both of Topeka; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Thurs., Oct. 16, 2008, at Victory Tabernalce followed by memorial services at 7:30 PM. Military honors by Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W.
