Charlotte Nadine Smith

Charlotte Nadine Smith, 87, Ozawkie, died Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, where she was readmitted earlier in the day. She was born December 3, 1927, at Soldier, the third of four daughters born to John "Ralph" and Rose Etta (Vaughn) Coltharp.

She graduated from Havensville High School. She and her husband owned and operated Smith Motor Service in Oskaloosa. They later moved to Ottawa where the family owned and operated B & G Auto Parts. After retirement Charlotte and Bob moved to Ozawkie.

She was a member of the Oskaloosa Presbyterian Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church of Ottawa; and currently attended Rock Creek Bible Church.

She was married to Robert James Smith on January 24, 1947, in Olathe. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Ray Wofford; her parents; and two sisters: Opal Bateman (Mrs. Nyman) and Joy Myers (Mrs. Harlow).

Surviving are her four children: Teresa Ann "Terry" Wofford of Lenexa, Gordon Robert Smith (Mary Lou) of Ozawkie, Loretta Renee Hurst (Jeff) of Topeka, and Edgar Warren Smith (Gloria) of Dodge City; her younger sister Marilyn Hofferber (Mrs. Don) of Chandler, Arizona; six grandchildren: Christopher Bishop Wofford (Stephanie), DeAndra Dawn Smith, Tyece Minyon Wofford, Quentin Ashley Hurst (Ilene), Jay Robert Hurst (Cortni), and Sarah Jane Duckworth (Daniel); and eight great-grandchildren: Haley Corrine Wofford, Cameron Riley Wofford, Cole Samuel Wofford, Garrhett Paul Hurst, Cecily Faith Hurst, J.D. "Jack" Hurst, Corey Matthew Hurst, and Julia Alexa Rivera.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Rock Creek Bible Church, K-4 & Hwy 92 Junction, Meriden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.

Charlotte will lie in state from 4:30 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, KS 66088.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rock Creek Bible Church, 5252 K-92 Highway, Meriden, KS 66512.
