OBITUARY: Charlotte M. Shaffer
Charlotte M. Shaffer, 87, Topeka, died Sat., March 17, 2007, at Midland Hospice House. She was born Dec. 22, 1919, at Topeka, the daughter of Elias I. "Lade" and Bessie (Martin) Cook.
Charlotte retired from the State of Kansas, Dept. of Revenue. She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and served as choir director for many years and various other leadership roles. Her loving spirit and unending support for all will live in our hearts forever.
Charlotte was married to Robert Lee Shaffer on June 18, 1939, at Topeka. He survives of the home. They were preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Pufahl, on Jan. 19, 1996.
Charlotte is survived and loved by her husband , Robert; their three daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Lloyd Lavin, Sr. of Tecumseh, Bobbie and Jerry Pufahl of Joplin, MO, and Jane and Ken Clouse of Topeka; 6 grandchildren: Lloyd Lavin, Jr. of Tecumseh, Dr. Tim Lavin of Lawrence, Stacy Colhouer of Topeka, Lisa Keele of Joplin, MO, Michael Clouse of Overland Park, KS, and Kimberly Clouse of Topeka; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thurs., March 22, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment in Meriden Cemetery. Charlotte will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wed., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
