Charles V. Umscheid

Charles “Chuck” V. Umscheid, age 92, of Meriden, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at Plaza West Care Home. Chuck was born April 3, 1927 in Flush, KS the son of Vincent and Mary (Welch) Umscheid. He grew up in rural Flush, graduating from Flush High School. He married Fleda Misamore June 1, 1949. She survives. Chuck worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for many years. He and Fleda also enjoyed farming. He was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Lawrence. He was active with the Civil Air Patrol where he was a squadron leader. He and Fleda also were active volunteers with the Big Brother/Big Sister Program in Topeka. And they also enjoyed square dancing where Chuck served as a caller.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Lawrence. Funeral meal to follow at the church. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made and sent to the Big Brother/Big Sister Program, KSBBBS Serving Topeka, 2300 SW 29 th St. Ste 200, Topeka, KS 66611. Davidson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. |
