Charles "Sonny" Sackrider, Jr., 86, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010.
He was born October 1, 1924 in Wamego, KS, the son of Charles and Sophia (Zeigler) Sackrider. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Squires.
He worked for Sam Falley's Produce for most of his adult years, retiring in 1993.
Charles married Betty Rose Sumner on March 18, 1950 in Westmoreland, KS. She preceded him in death. Survivors include three siblings, Andy (Barbara)Sackrider, Wamego, Josephine Bisenieks, Gainesville, VA and Joyce Knapp, Appleton, WI; two brother-in-laws, Paul Curtis and Russ Sumner; and a sister-in-law, Maxine VanDonge; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings, Genevieve Mayfield, Reva Witt, Clyde, Leonard, Gerald, and Harold Sackrider.
His first love was his wife Betty and his second was gardening.
Mr. Sackrider was cremated. A graveside inurnment ceremony will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Grantville Cemetery, Grantville, KS.
