Charles Patrick Gibbons
Charles Patrick Gibbons, 85, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born September 16, 1923 in Chanute, KS, the son of Patrick Henry and Claudia Mae (Jones) Gibbons. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was employed by Beatrice Foods in Topeka over 20 years before retiring.
He was a former member of Seward Avenue Baptist Church.
Charles married Harriet "Jean" Saunders March 27, 1954 Kahoka, MO. They later divorced. She preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 1982. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and a grandson, Randy Lee Ridgway, Jr. Survivors include his children, Randy (Linda) Ridgway, Charles K. (Janice) Gibbons, and Teresa Gibbons, all of Topeka; a sister, Lutitia (Paul) Persinger of Baldwin City, KS; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gibbons was cremated. No services are planned. Private inurnment will be at East View Cemetery, Big Springs, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel is assisting the family.
