Charles Ray "Charlie" Miller, 64, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
He was born January 17, 1949 in Troy, KS, the son of Donald L. and Margarete G. (Bashor) Miller. He was a 1967 graduate of Highland Park High School.
Mr. Miller was involved in the grocery business most of his life and was currently employed by Prairie Band Casino.
Charlie married Nancy J. Sassaman on August 25, 1968 in Topeka. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Troy (Tammy) Miller, Osage City; a daughter, Angie (Lance) Dougan, Topeka; five grandchildren, Ryan, Brianne, Kyser, Kolby and Kooper ; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Margarete Miller; two siblings, Jody (Byron) Waldy and Sandy (Dave) Meneley all of Topeka; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
He was an avid KU fan and loved to fish.
A memorial ceremony will be 1 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Charlie will lie in state after 4 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
