Charles "Chuck" L Bland, 65, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born June 27, 1948 in Princeton, IL, the son of Lester Hicks and Donna Jane (Farrell) Bland. He served in the U. S. Air Force during Vietnam. Chuck attended and was graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor's Degree, producing a one act play, "Life's a Beach" and a two act play, "Until Daylight."
He was graduated from Kansas State University with a Doctorate in Drama Therapy. Many hobbies included riding his bicycle and vacationing on motorcycle with his wife. He also enjoyed spending time with his daughters, granddaughters, and nieces and nephews.
Chuck was employed by the City of Topeka, retiring in 2003.
Chuck married Frances Ann Stattelman on December 27, 1969 in Topeka. Other survivors include his two daughters, Jennifer R. (Willie) Urish, Lawrence and Julie A. (Byron) Brobst, Topeka; three granddaughters, Mackinzie and Maddie Urish and Cassidy Brobst; a sister, Donna (Tom) Idema, Reno, NV; and a brother, Bill Bland, Virginia.
Mr. Bland was cremated. A "Celebration of Life" is planned for 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 122 NW Walnut Grove Rd, Topeka, KS 66617. Memorial contributions may be made to http://chuckblandmemorialfund.mydagsite.com. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka is assisting the family.
