OBITUARY: Charles John Green
Charles John Green, 88, Topeka, died Wed., March 6, 2013, in Weslaco, TX. He was born Jan. 14, 1925, in Topeka the son of Jasper W. and Anna M. (Walters) Green.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve. Charles was a sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Workers Local # 2. He was a member of Carbondale Lodge # 70, AF & AM, and served as Master in 1968 and 1972. He was also a member of Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and Arab Shrine.
Charles was married to Azella "June" Collie on June 12, 1945, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2006. Surviving are a daughter: Sheila Rae Kratina of Delia; two sons: Darrell William Green of Bartlett, Il and Lynn Eugene Green of Mt. Home, AR; a step-sister: Mary Chenoweth; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jack and Emmett, and step-brother, Donald Meggison.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Fri., March 15, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., followed by Masonic Services conducted by Carbondale Lodge # 70, AF & AM. Military honors will be conducted at Topeka Cemetery. Charles will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 PM, Fri.
