Charles Allen "Charlie" Jackson, 69, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
He was born February 17, 1944 in Paola, KS, the son of Howard A. and Virginia G. (Dain) Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was employed by the Kansas Department of Transportation, retiring in 1989. He also farmed in the Jackson County area. He was active with the Ag Heritage Park and Museum in Alta Vista.
He enjoyed tinkering with antique tractors and stationary engines.
Charlie married Deborah L. McLucas on September 14, 1981 in Miami, OK. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Kevin C. (Erin) Jackson, Topeka; two grandchildren, Jacob and Haley and one expected; a brother, Leroy D. Jackson, Wamego; two sisters, Rosemary Jackson, Wamego and Marcella Martin, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cheryl.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2013 at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Charlie will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6-8. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Soldier Township Fire Department, 600 NW 46th St., Topeka, KS 66617 or to the Ag Heritage Park Museum, 103 S. Main Alta Vista, KS.
