There really is no love like a mother's love and, Chalice Louise (Robuck) Elliott, 86, was the epitome of a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Chalice peacefully departed from this life on January 10, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of her family and under the care of Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas.
Chalice was born on June 20,1937, in Salida, Colorado, to the parents of Glenn Robuck and Faye (Boose) Robuck Ayers. She was the oldest of 7 children; Orus, Agatha, Jimmy, Melvin, Marcia, and Grace, raised in Lecompton, Kansas. She graduated in the class of '56 at Lecompton High School. Chalice perfected her nurturing ways early in life as she spent her childhood protecting and caring for her siblings while her parents worked until the 8th grade where she started her own journey in the workforce. Her love for people lead her to a career in waitressing where she got to feed and meet many people. When she wasn't working or caring for siblings she enjoyed participating in cheer squad, playing card games, and dancing.
At age 19, Chalice married Earl Duane Elliott on August 5, 1956 in Topeka, Kansas, and together they raised 4 children; Thomas "Tom" (Mitzi) Elliott, Douglas "Doug" (Rebecca) Elliott, Katherine "Kathy" (Michael) Boose, and Doris (Gerald) DiCamillo, in Monte Vista, Colorado and later moved back to Tecumseh, Kansas where they permanently settled. Her time in Colorado was spent doing the books for her husband's business, and being actively involved with The Girl Scouts of America. Her time in Kansas was spent cleaning houses with her sister, Agatha and she remained active with The Girl Scouts.
Throughout Chalice's life she was a devout Christian and a member of Big Springs Methodist Church. She enjoyed family gatherings, outdoor activities, crocheting, crafts, reading, playing cards and was always willing to help those in need. In true Chalice fashion, she spent her retirement with her greatest joy, her family. She enjoyed traveling and spread her love and kindness to all her posterity.
We know Chalice was welcomed with loving arms from her family that preceded her in death; father, Glenn Robuck, mother Faye (Boose) Robuck Ayers, husband Earl Duane Elliott, brothers Orus, and Melvin Robuck, sisters Agatha (Robuck) Holloway, Marcia (Robuck) Slater, and Grace (Robuck) Cardell and great grandchild Tucker DiCamillo.
Chalice's constant love and dedication for her family was one of her defining characteristics and she will be forever missed by her children, Tom (Mitzi) Elliott, Hoyt, Kansas, Doug (Becky) Elliott, Monte Vista, Colorado, Kathy (Mike) Boose Lecompton, Kansas, and Doris (Jerry) DiCamillo Monte Vista, Colorado, brother Jim (Charlene) Robuck, Topeka, Kansas, 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 brother-in-laws and 1 sister-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
