Carrie Christena (Jensen) Michaelson
Carrie Christena (Jensen) Michaelson, 85, Topeka, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. She was born November 22, 1931, on a farm near Denmark (Lincoln County), Kansas, to Henry and Clara (Nelson) Jensen.
She was a homemaker and worked for 10 years for Hallmark Card, Topeka. Carrie was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Topeka. She enjoyed textile handcrafts of all kinds, flower gardening, and especially playing cards with her granddaughters.
Carrie was married to John Michaelson on April 10, 1955. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2011.
Surviving are two sons: Rick Michaelson (Kristi) of Topeka, Kris Michaelson (Val) of Kingston, Ontario (Canada); her granddaughters: Hannah, Ceilidh, & Charis Michaelson of Kingston, Ontario (Canada); one brother: Cleo Jensen (Betty) of Hunter; two other sisters-in-law: Marge Williams of Topeka and Marjorie Jensen of Marion; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers: Don (Doris), Marvin, Lew (Helen), and Jerry Jensen, and sister Almatha Woodall (Leonard).
Special thanks to her nieces: Diana Bates and Alana Atkins, to her friends: Marsha Penrod, and to caring staff at McCrites Plaza and St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 30, 2017, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 4525 NW Button Road, Topeka. Interment in Topeka Cemetery.
Carrie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
