Carolyn Rae (Pollom) Taylor, 88, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023.

She was born March 7, 1935, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Edgar and Mildred (Stansbury) Pollom. She graduated from Topeka High School.

Carolyn absolutely loved animals. From raccoons to lizards to snakes, they all shared a special place in her heart, especially cats.
She was a faithful member of Oakland United Methodist Church, and was active with the women's group and choir.

Carolyn enjoyed genealogy and history. She enjoyed searching cemeteries and putting together family histories. She was a member of the Topeka Genealogical Society. She and her husband, Max, were able to travel to Ireland and England, working on genealogy while there.

In her spare time, you could find Carolyn playing bunco, dominoes, quilting, or watching Jeopardy.

She enjoyed being a mother. Her family meant the world to her. Raising her children was her pride and joy. They enjoyed family vacations that included visiting and camping in National Parks. She joined the workforce after her children were in school. She worked at various places; from lunch lady to selling real estate. She finished her career at Super Chief Credit Union.

Carolyn married Max Wayne Taylor on December 10, 1953, at Oakland United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2009. Survivors include her children Kerry (Sheri) Taylor, Thomas (Patti) Taylor, Patty (Dave) Maine, Pam Denman, and Lisa Taylor; grandchildren Nathan (Jenny) Taylor, Jeremy (Sverre) Maine, Jered (Teresa) Taylor, Laura (Peter) Maine, Brian (Morgan) Denman, Staci (Ryan) Allen, Lindsay (John) Cordia, Mike (Maggie) Parker, Taylor (Melanie) Maine, Josiah (Michaela) Maine, Jesse Maine, Grayson (Haily) Taylor, and Melia Rivera; 16 great-grandchildren and her brother, Robert "Bob" Pollom.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Mildred and her husband, Max.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Parker-Price, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. The family will greet friends following the service at Parker-Price Reception Center until 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Topeka Cemetery in Topeka.
