Carol Lynn Willey

September 30, 1945 — January 30, 2022

Our loving mother Carol Lynn Willey, 76, of Silver Lake, KS went to live with Jesus on January 30, 2022 after battling viral pneumonia at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, KS.

Carol Lynn Riddle was born on September 30, 1945 to Samuel Baird Riddle and Bertha Ellen Sill of Emporia, KS.   After graduating from Emporia High School in 1963, she graduated from a Kansas City, KS cosmetology school in 1964.  Carol moved to Topeka, KS and worked as a Cosmetologist at JCPenney.

Carol married Dale Alvin Troxel in February of 1964, and they had three daughters:  Chris Lynn Linden of Emporia, KS, Dawn Aleen Ramsey of Parker, CO, and Laine Renee (David) Beal of Topeka, KS.

In the 20 plus years that Carol was a single mom, she was self-employed as a daycare provider but also decorated cakes and cut hair for extra income.  Being a woman of faith, Carol instilled in her daughters a strong work ethic, a sense of responsibility, the value of being frugal and a love of the Lord.

Carol married Walter Willey in October 1995 and gained three (step) children: Tammy Dain of Alma, KS, and Yvonne Reaves of Killeen, TX, and Anthony Willey (deceased).

Carol is preceded in death by both of her parents, Samuel Baird Riddle and Bertha Ellen (Sill), sisters Barbara Ellen Thomas and Geraldine Lucille Riddle, as well as (step) son Anthony Willey.

Carol was blessed to be known as “Grammy” to 10 grandchildren:  Kindra Johnson of Madison, KS, Trent Shanks of Emporia, KS, Erika Shanks of Lebo, KS, Colton Shanks of Wichita, KS, Makayla Linden of Emporia, Samuel Ramsey of Overland Park, KS, Taylor Ramsey of Norman, OK, Bethany Beal of Topeka, KS, Rachael Beal of Topeka, KS, Noah Beal of Olathe, KS.  She was also the proud great grandmother to three great grandchildren.

Carol loved to laugh and her silly antics were well-known to friends and family alike.  She lived a faithful life and read His word on a daily basis.  Carol attended First Baptist Church of Silver Lake and participated in prayer chains, bible study, vacation bible school…as well as many other activities.
