Carolyn Marie Simpson

Carolyn M. Simpson, age 77, of Topeka, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 in Topeka.  Carolyn was born November 21, 1943 in Topeka the daughter of Thomas and Christine (Percifield) Lemons.  She graduated from Seaman High School.  She married Peter Augustine Engroff.  He preceded her in death in 1967.  She married James “Jim” Simpson December 9, 1971. Carolyn enjoyed square dancing.  She and Jim were members of the Swinging Squares in Topeka where she served as treasurer in 1987-1988.  She enjoyed sewing and shopping at fabric stores and doing jigsaw puzzles.   She had worked at Food 4 Less for several years.

Carolyn was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Marie Zabokrtsky in 1987; a stepson, Daniel Simpson; and two sisters, Louise and Norma.  She is survived by her husband Jim of Topeka; three daughters, Kim (Alan) Weis, Traci (Curt) Raab and Lisa (Tim) Godfrey, all of Topeka; a son, Peter “Alan” Simpson of Topeka; a stepdaughter, Cara (Ed) Sargeant of Georgia; a stepson, Raymond (Roberta) Simpson of Topeka; five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grantville Cemetery.  She will lie in state Thursday from noon – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Donations may be made to the Davidson Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. davidsonfuneral.com.
