Carles Robert Carter, Sr.
Charles Robert Carter, Sr. was born, May 31, 1917, and died, Jan. 22, 2010 in Topeka, KS.
He was the first son born to Joseph and Sigrid (nee Johnson) Carter. Sisters Eva, Edith, Frances, and Ruth and brothers Ralph and Joseph have all died. Sisters Marjorie and Genevieve and brother Donald live in Topeka.
Charles graduated from Seaman High School in 1935. Soon after, he moved to Sacramento, California where he met and marred Annabelle (nee Ainger) September 28, 1941. Theirs was truly a never-ending love affair.
Charles' military career, (1940-1964) took him, Ann and children Charlanne, Charles R. Jr., Joseph and Claire to many states and countries. He and Ann retired in Carmel, CA. He was a steadfast patriot, avid reader, life-long athlete. Charles was a private, reserved man who loved his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren Stacey, Jessica, Aaron, Heather Belle, and great grandson, DeShaun.
Charles will be buried beside Annabelle at Grand Island Cemetery, Colusa, CA. No services.
