Carl Dean Delcour
Carl Dean Delcour, 74, of Grantville, was born January 21, 1943, at Hartville, Wright County, Missouri, the son of Lee Franklin Dolway and Cora Violet (Rayborn) Delcour. He died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. His parents; sister, Florine Raney; and brothers: Arthur and LaVon Delcour, preceded him in death.
Carl graduated from Plato High School (Plato, MO) and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked 37 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant. Carl was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Topeka. He found great joy in volunteering at Let's Help and the North Topeka Backpack program.
Carl was married to Cheryl Lynn (Donaldson) Thompson on June 19, 1993, at the Grantville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Cheryl, of the home; children: Susan Lynn Colvin of Topeka, Christopher Thompson (Stephanie) of Olathe, Michael Thompson (Linda) of Cumming, GA, Julie Legleiter (Chris) of Olathe; a brother: Bob McNiel (Kathy) of San Antonio, TX; his first wife: Erma Delcour of Topeka; nine grandchildren: Dallas Dunn, Laci Colvin (PJ Mallory), Sam Colvin (Tila), Morgan Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Madalyn Thompson, Craig Thompson, Riley Legleiter, and Kinley Legleiter; great-grandchildren: Cole, Ella, Adonis, Hanna, and Abigail; two nephews: Mike Raney (Stephanie) of Springfield, MO, and James Delcour (Anna) of Portsmouth, VA.
Carl would like to let you know that his work here is done. After battling with cancer, came an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends that he has not seen in a long time. Job security is 110%. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be creating, welding, repairing, and helping others. Tools will be furnished.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Klasse Chapel of First United Methodist Church, 601 South Topeka Blvd., Topeka. Committal services will be at 3:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2017, at Dorris Cemetery, Lynchburg, MO.
Carl will lie in state from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, May 15, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka.
