Candy Sue Degand, age 63, of Alma, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at her home in Alma. Candy was born November 11, 1955 in Topeka the daughter of Francis and Dorothy (Hicks) Kennedy. She grew up in Topeka, attending school there. She married George Degand, he would precede her in death. She worked as a cook at the Alma Manor. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newberry, KS. She enjoyed Hayden Bingo. Candy lived for her grandchildren and spending every moment with them.
She is survived by two sons, George Degand Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Christopher Degand of Manhattan, Kansas; four daughters, Dorothy (Joe) Bennett of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Patricia (Wade) Hornsby of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Sarah Degand of Topeka, Kansas and Heather Frank of Wamego; a half brother, George Hayes of Lake Charles, Louisiana; a sister, Crystal Beckwith of Topeka; 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. She will lie in state Wednesday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
