C. Steven Rarrick, age 59, of Topeka, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 at his home in Topeka. Steve was born February 18, 1960 in Republic, Washington, the son of Larry and Marie (Hartill) Rarrick. Steve was raised in Chewelah, Washington and graduated from Jenkins High School in 1978. He received his associate’s degree from Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas in 1980. He graduated from George Fox College in Newberg, Oregon in 1982 with his bachelor’s degree. In 1986, he graduated from Washburn School of Law, Cum Laude. After law school, he began his career with the law firm of Davis, Wright, Unrein, Hummer and McCallister. Later, he served as an attorney for the State of Kansas in various capacities, including the Department of Administration as the Deputy Attorney General for the Consumer Protection Department, and on the Citizen Utility Ratepayers Board.
He married Jayne Jenson in 1983; she survives of the home. Other survivors include their four children, Ashley, Kim, Michael and Emily; his mother, Judy Rarrick; siblings, Greg (Gerry) Rarrick, Diana Cady, Sue (Terry) Huggins, Rhonda Rarrick, June (Jim) Rollis, Jan (Bret) Matthews, Wes Raymond, Todd Isaac, Tia (Jeff) Avery, and TJ Roy, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Larry Rarrick; his mother, Marie Roy; and brothers, Michael Rarrick and Ty Roy.
Steve received scholarships to play baseball at Central Christian, Mid-America Nazarene, and George Fox Colleges. He enjoyed watching Kansas State University football, thanks to Jayne’s influence. He loved going camping and four-wheeling in the mountains of Washington and Idaho with his family.
Memorial services will be Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the 1101 SW Mulvane Auditorium at Topeka Bible Church. Visitation will be Thursday evening, January 2 in the 1135 SW College Avenue building from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held later in Washington. Details for the service will be provided later.
