Bryan Jackson Thornton

October 14, 1971 — November 15, 2024

Bryan Jackson Thornton, a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, was born on October 14, 1971, in Topeka, Kansas. He departed this world on November 15, 2024, in Tecumseh, Kansas, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and laughter that will be treasured by all who knew him.

He was a dedicated plumber for his entire career at H&R Plumbing working alongside his father. He passed along the trade to his son, Cole. Bryan was known not only for his skill but also for the humor he brought into every situation, “piece of cake”. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1990 and furthered his education at Washburn University, he established a life characterized by hard work and commitment, values he passed down to his children.

Bryan was a man who thrived on connection. His laughter was infectious, always brightening the room and lifting spirits. He adored spending time in nature, whether it was hunting and fishing or simply enjoying serene sunsets from his boat at the lake. He was a devoted father, creating beautiful memories with his sons Cole and Harrison, and his daughters Carlyn and Hope. He was their biggest supporter of all of their sporting events. One of the most memorable moments shared was when he took Cole on his first turkey and buck hunt, a bonding experience they both cherished deeply.

He took great joy in taking his daughters out on Daddy/Daughter dates, filling those times with love and laughter, making them feel special and adored. He attended the Royals World Series game with his son Harrison and it will always remain a cherished memory.

Bryan is survived by his beloved mother, Ruby Thornton; his sister, Tammy Wiltz and her husband Scott; and his cherished children—Cole (Chloe) Thornton, Harrison Thornton, Carlyn Thornton, and Hope Thornton, and their mother, Amber Thornton. He also leaves behind his niece, Samantha (Nate) Helder, and nephew, Josh Wiltz.

Bryan was preceded in death by his father, Harry Thornton. Though their time together was far too short, the connections forged through Bryan’s kindness, humor, and love resonate deeply still.
