Bonnie L. Mahana, 79, Silver Lake, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. She was born August 2, 1938 in Howard, South Dakota, the daughter of Elton and Lucy (Chappell) Jaton. She attended high school in Ramona, South Dakota. In 1954, she married Dan Wolf. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked for J.L. Brandeis & Sons, Coakley Industrial, and American Shorthorn Association. They later divorced. On May 9, 1963, she married Jack Mahana in Millard, Nebraska. They moved to Texas in 1964 and during that time, she worked for Wynn-Dixie Stores. They moved to Silver Lake in 1966. She worked for Hallmark Cards for 30 years and Robuck Jewelers 9 ½ years.
Her hobbies were work, family, and friends. She loved visiting, joking, and laughing with all of them. She loved people, word search, and was an avid fan of KU Basketball and Dallas Cowboys Football. She always said, "if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours."
Bonnie is survived by four children: Kelly (Toni) Mahana, Randy (Joann) Wolf, Silver Lake; Rhonda (Phil) Skow and Dave (Tammy) Wolf, Topeka; four step-sons, Frank Mahana, Columbus, GA; Mark and John Mahana, Beggs, OK and Jim Mahana, El Dorado Springs, MO; one brother, C.W. "Jake" Jaton, Omaha, NE; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, a sister in infancy, three brothers, Calvin, DeWayne, and Dennis Jaton and step-son, Marshall Mahana.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Silver Lake First Baptist Church, 3439 NW Hoch Rd, Silver Lake, KS. Burial of the urn will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery.
