Bonnie Henry
Bonnie Henry, 84, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mrs. Henry and her husband had owned and operated Henry's Marine in Highland Park and she earlier had worked for the State Highway Department and Equitable Life Insurance Co. She also was the first Topeka and Shawnee County director of the Women's Division of Civil Defense.
She was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Topeka, to Sidney N. and Lucille Elizabeth Jones Purinton. She graduated from Arkansas City High School.
Mrs. Henry was a member of Women of the Moose, Rollin Sams Camping Group, Crestview United Methodist Church and she was a former member of the USCG Auxiliary.
She married Earl W. Henry on Sept. 26, 1952, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sherry K. VonRiesen, Parker, Colo.; a brother, Sidney N. Purinton, Arkansas City; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. Mrs. Henry will lie in state after 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
