OBITUARY: Bonnidell Herring Senn
Valley Falls -- Bonnidell Herring Senn, 81, of rural Valley Falls, died Friday morning, November 25, 2005 at LinnWood Home Plus, Valley Falls, where she had been a resident since March. Bonnidell was born in Homewood in Franklin County, Kansas on October 12, 1924, fourth child of six to Henry and Kate Wemmer Herring. She moved with her family between Franklin County, eastern Colorado and Jefferson County, Kansas. Bonnie started school in eastern Colorado, then attended school at Ozawkie, Williamsburg and Rock Creek, Kansas; graduating from Rock Creek High School in 1942. During World War II, she worked for Cessna Aircraft Company repairing war-damaged airplanes in Wichita, Kansas and Oakland, California, until she returned to work on the family farm in rural Ozawkie. Bonnidell married Arnold Senn on January 29, 1947, at Topeka, Kansas. They lived south of Valley Falls their entire married life. She enjoyed working beside Arnold farming and raising cattle. Bonnie was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing. Survivors include a son, Kenneth and wife, Joyce, of Denison, Kansas; a daughter, Teresa Clarkson and husband, Gary, of Tonganoxie, Kansas; two sisters, Letha Rise of Topeka, and Maryetta Teaford of Valley Falls; a brother Eugene Herring of Ozawkie; four grandchildren, 5 step-grandsons, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Arnold in 1995; her parents; brother, Floyd; and sister, Opal New. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. Bonnidell will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Co.
