Junkyard Bob
November 2, 1961 - December 17, 2017
Bob was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas to the late Robert M. and Shirley L. (Elledge) Bingham.
Bob married Sherry Shaver,June 6, 1981. She survives.Other survivors include their children Gary, Lawrence, Kansas, Jessica, Ozawkie, Kansas and Josh (Erica), Meriden, Kansas, grandchildren Montana, Alexis, Caleb, Becca, Clayton, Kameron, Liam, and Kinsley. Two sisters, Pati
Bryan (Kent), and Cathie Bingham. Also, his father-in-law Al Shaver, mother-in-law Sharon Caley brothers-in-law, Walt Shaver (Joyce), Dean
Shaver (Christina), sister-in-law Sandy Shaver,five uncles, seven aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many, many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin (1984), his Dad (1999), his Mom (2017), sisters-in-law Liz (Shaver) Shaw and her children Shannon and David, Becky (McDonald) Shaver, her children with Walt, Kyla and Darren (1985), and brother-in-law Chris Holthusen (2010).
Bob, Sherry and their children moved to Meriden, KS in 1991. He was a life member of the Meriden VFW Post 10815 Auxiliary. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1979-1999 in the 714th Maintenance Division, as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, which included
several years as a Federal Civil Service Technician.After retiring from the National Guard he continued to work as a mechanic at various companies, including his own auto mechanic shop.He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Topeka, Kansas. Bob loved his buddy and furry companion, Daisy, his Rat Rod truck that he built, stock car racing, car shows, swap meets, country music, cooking and most of
all his children and grandchildren. He was lovingly known as Junkyard Bob to many, due to the countless hours he spent scouring Heinen Salvage for personal projects or covering the yard for the owner his very good friend, Gene. One of his favorite things was to have his family and friends come for cookouts. They would reminisce about times spent at the local dirt tracks laughing about all the trouble he got into with friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Davidson Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
