Blanche R. Morris Johnson, 84, Topeka, died, Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 in Independence, MO. She was born Blanche Ronelle Hotchkiss, on Dec. 1, 1920, near Hepler, KS. She attended college at Pittsburg State, and lived for many years in Alta Vista, Paxico and finally Topeka. She was first a teacher, teaching all eight grades at a school in Alta Vista. Then she was a nurse at the Alma Manor and the V.A. Hospital in Topeka. She retired from the Veterans Administration. After retirement, she became an artist.
She was preceded in death by her four husbands, Charles Andrews, Stanley C. Morris, Joe Harris and John Johnson, two daughters, Linda McCale and Betty OGilivie. Two step-daughter's; Carol Dunlap and Sharon Coker.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Andrews, San Diego, and Stanley C. Morris, II, Topeka; four daughters, Jann Morris-Law, Littleton, CO; Mary Jo Martin, Port St. Lucie, FL.; Louise Phelps, Tulsa; and Cheryl Ballway, Wichita; Thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Interment will be in Eskridge Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Crossroads Hospice 8540 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64138 or Alzheimer's Association Topeka Chapter P.O.
