OBITUARY: Mrs. Blanche Elcetta Ward
Mrs. Blanche Elcetta Ward, 87, Topeka, died Sun. morning, Dec. 24, 2006, at her home. She was born Feb. 19, 1919, at Osage City the daughter of Carey Steele and Eva Lena (Knox) McCreight.
Blanche had been a hairdresser in the Lyndon area before moving to Topeka. She was a member of Northland Christian Church.
She was married to Charles Everett Ward on Nov. 7, 1938, at Lyndon. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1993. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons: Ethan E. Ward on June 9, 1994, and Charles H. Ward on June 1, 2005; and a granddaughter: Theresa Marie Ward on Feb. 2, 1985.
Surviving are a son, Robert C. Ward, of Topeka; 2 brothers: Harold McCreight of Wichita, and Lloyd McCreight of Enid, OK; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thurs., Dec. 28, 2006, at Northland Christian Church. Interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Blanche will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Wed., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. The casket will remain closed.
