Billy Joe Hatcher, 92 of Topeka, former longtime Hutchinson resident, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was born August 30, 1926 in Cambria, OK, the son of, and preceded in death by, Petty Hatcher and Lillian Haynes Hatcher Gibson. His family lived in Oklahoma until he was about seven and then they moved to Cameo, CO. He lived in Cameo until joining the Army and he served his country in the Philippine Islands during World War II. After the war, he returned home settling in Hutchinson. He drove a truck for many years.
Billy married Wanda Zielke Zane in Hutchinson in 1966. She and Billy moved to Topeka this past June.
Billy is survived by his wife, Wanda Zielke Hatcher of Topeka; his three daughters from a previous marriage, Rhonda Culvahouse (John) of Topeka, Tammy Phillips of Blue Springs, MO, and Connie Jo Serrano (Jeff) of Blue Springs, MO; step-son, Kelly Zane (Joy) of Dallas, TX; daughter-in-law; Sue Zane of Topeka; brother, Bobby Gibson (Sandi) of McPherson, KS; sister, Pauline McNeil of the Phoenix, AZ area; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two step-sons, Scott Zane and Tony Zane, brother-in-law, LeRoy Zielke, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Zielke.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
