Billie Jack Fleischer, 69, of Maple Hill, KS passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
He was born October 14, 1942 in Topeka. He was a graduate of Effingham High School, Effingham, KS and attended Washburn University.
Mr. Fleischer and his spouse owned and operated Maple Hill Feed and Grain Inc. He later worked for Bartlett and West Engineering Company as a Rural Water Inspector, retiring from Pottawatomie RWD #4. He also ministered to others through missionary work in Haiti.
Billie married Carol Kay Slack on January 4, 1964 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Landa (Frank) Frontino, Ft. Worth, TX, and Linda (Trapper Richman) Fleischer, Burlingame, KS; 6 grandchildren, Cliff (Sarah) Hastings, Melissa (Jesse Miller) Pittenger, Kimberly (Dee) Riley, Kenneth "Bud" (Heather) Pittenger II, Brooke Fleischer and Trey Fleischer; 5 great-grandchildren, Jonny Hastings, Kendra Riley, Chase Hastings, Katy Hastings and Daphne Riley; 3 siblings, Jill (Duane) Dawdy, Grantville, Judy (Wayne) Beaman, Topeka, Fran Sheddan, Topeka ; 28 foster children, 2 of which were considered as sons, Monty Smith, Excelsior Springs, MO and Phillip Pittenger, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Mosher.
Billie enjoyed ranching, cattle, fishing, spending time with his family, anything to do with military and collected John Wayne memorabilia.
A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church, 104 East 4th Street, Maple Hill, KS. Interment will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Maple Hill, KS. Billie will lie in state after 3 p.m., Sunday, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Hill Cemetery, 33645 Vera Rd, Maple Hill, KS 66507.
