Bill Weeks

Willard "Bill" Dean Weeks, 85, Topeka, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at home.
He was born July 6, 1933, it was 103 degrees, in Wilsey, Kansas. He was the son of Ed and Lillie (Venburg) Weeks.
Bill graduated from Council Grove High School in 1952. He grew up helping his family on their farm, later helping on other family farms and became a wrangler on The King Ranch in the Flint Hills, moving on to teach riding lessons in Colorado and upstate New York. In 1953 joined the Army serving his time as a heavy rocket crewman in Germany. He earned Sharp Shooter (Rifle) and a Good Conduct Medal. Upon his return from Germany, he continued with the Army Reserve for the next few years.
Bill was a jack of all trades, as well as a bull rider in the rodeo circuit for many years. He worked in construction and was a heavy equipment operator. He was a truck driver for Meadow Gold, delivering milk and ice cream to schools throughout Kansas and later went on to long haul trucking and retired working for Meier's Cement. After retirement, he continued horse breeding and Ferrier services while farming and raising livestock near Valley Falls.
His passion was his family and his horses. He loved the outdoors, wood working and could fix anything.
Survivors include his daughters: Kimberly Gordon; Katrina Weeks, both of Topeka and Kristi Weeks, Gallup, NM; six grandchildren: Todd (Tara) Gordon, Ilana (Darrell) Justice, both of Topeka; Justin Nuanez, Denver, CO; Jina Cattaneo, John Anthony Cattaneo, Sydney Cattaneo, all of Gallup, NM; sister, Marjorie Callentine, Hutchinson, KS and numerous extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Willard Dean Weeks, Jr. and seven siblings, Juanita Smith, Lois Blanton, Virgil Weeks, Orville Weeks, Robert Weeks, Dale Weeks and LaVern Weeks.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funeral & Receptions. A reception will follow the service at Parker-Price Reception Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to any local animal shelter or sanctuary or American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
