Beverly D. "Milo" Vilander, 91, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Thorton Place, Topeka, KS.
Bev was born March 17, 1927, in Maple Hill, KS, to Kenneth R. and Margaret May (Mitchell) Vilander. He worked as a factory laborer at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for over 31 years. He also loved ranching and farming, caring for his numerous animals especially his horses. Bev was an active member of First Baptist Church in Silver Lake, KS and Lake Lodge #50 AF & AM, Silver Lake, KS for over 65 years. He was a member of the Fire Board Trustee and Township Menoken Trustee. Bev also enjoyed dealing and buying cattle through the St. Mary's Sale Barn.
He is survived by his two children: Michael (Linda) Vilander and Lona (David) Smith; three grandchildren: Jared Vilander, Cara (Tyler) Christian, and Tyler (Shelly) Smith; nine great-grandchildren: Caden Vilander, Spencer De Los Santos, Conner De Los Santos, Josephine De Los Santos, Carter De Los Santos, Porter Christian, Stryder Christian, Gunner Smith, and Kaelin Rice; three siblings: Gerald (Hildred) Vilander, Lorraine Green, and Sharon Hughes; and loyal companion: Marion Stevens.
Bev was preceded in death by his first wife of 57 years: Hazel Vilander; second wife of six years: Phyllis Brownlee; and brother: Leon Vilander.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Silver Lake, 3439 NW Hoch Road, Silver Lake, KS 66539. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th and Menoken Road. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.
