Mrs. Betty R. Sackrider, 78, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at a Topeka nursing home. Mrs. Sackrider was a homemaker. She was born March 18, 1925, in Havensville, to Mel and Bertha Nichols Sumner. She graduated from Soldier High School. She was a member of Wamego VFW Auxiliary, where she was past president. She was a member of Soldier Christian Church. She married Charles Sackrider Jr. on Jan. 23, 1950, in Westmorland. He survives. Other survivors include two sisters, Maxine VanDonge, Holton, and Ruth Allen, Hiawatha; a brother, Russ Sumner, Osawatomie; and numerous nephews and nieces. Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grantville Cemetery. Mrs. Betty R. Sackrider will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary after 3 p.m. today.
